Responsible for the development and execution of thought leader strategy, tactical plans and activities that drive strong thought leader engagement based on science, and commitment to patients across all marketing channels. The behaviors that are critical for success are collaboration, communication, planning, relationship building, and the ability to execute tactical initiatives to drive brand performance. This will be a field based role with assigned region reporting into Executive Director, Rare Disease Marketing.

Primary Responsibilities:

KOL Engagement – Identify and lead engagement with national KOLs and work with regional teams to identify and cultivate ‘emerging KOLs’ across different specialties

  • Engage with National, Regional and Local thought leaders to impact education and advocacy of Acadia product(s) for Rett Syndrome
  • Act as commercial liaison on thought leader engagement across departments including Sales, Medical Affairs/MSL, and Marketing.
  • Interprets and translates scientific clinical data and market research insights into commercial TL strategy aligned to Daybue Brand strategy.

Peer to Peer Education - Leads the peer to peer speaker/bureau development strategy as well as execution (content exploration and development, speaker identification, selection and utilization. Develops regional annual peer to peer promotion plan and executes in collaboration with sales team.

HCP Congresses and scientific meetings- Leads planning and execution of Acadia’s presence at assigned national and regional HCP conferences and scientific meetings in collaboration with home office marketing.

  • Identifies novel opportunities to partner with national and regional professional HCP associations to drive disease and product education.
  • Formalize meetings (live, virtual, Congress) with senior leadership and KOLs.

Insight generation – Identify and monitor regional clinical dynamics by leading regional advisory boards strategy and execution. Facilitate cross pollination of best practices and highlight emerging issues to find solutions. Generate insights through use of secondary data, market research, and analytics and translate these into external expert strategy and tactical plan development

  • Ensures that all Medical Legal Review (MLR) processes are followed and all programs are compliant with legal guidance and corporate policies.
  • Measures the impact of TL marketing activities on a continual basis and adjusts course where appropriate.
  • Responsible for the development and management of the regional thought leader engagement promotions budget and managing vendors.
  • Develops and delivers presentations as needed to commercial management and other internal groups.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, health care, business administration or related or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered. A minimum of 8 years of progressively responsible experience and advancement within pharmaceutical or biotech industry in sales, sales training or marketing. Rare disease and pediatric neurology experience strongly preferred.
  • Key Competencies – Scientific and clinical acumen, Ability to engage with National KOLs on key topics, Vendor assessment and management, budget development and management, executive presence, ability to influence without authority, excellent planning skills.
  • Recent product launch experience or major new indication launch experience.
  • Strong Biopharmaceutical experience in sales, sales training, thought leader liaison or marketing roles
  • Scientific acumen - Experience and demonstrated ability learning and discussing complex scientific and clinical concepts.
  • Ability to work successfully in a dynamic, fast paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Negotiating skills, specifically with business partners or management and influencing senior level leaders regarding matters of significance to the organization.
  • Proficiency at creating and communicating a clear vision among team members effectively aligning resources and activities to achieve functional area and/or organizational goals.
  • This is a field-based role. Approximately 60% local/regional travel required by business which may include weekends so proximity to a major airport within the territory is a must to ensure quick connectivity to air transport hubs.

Physical Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, see, talk or hear in a standard office environment and independently from remote locations. Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.   Ability to travel by car or airplane independently overnight up to 60% of the time and work after hours if required by travel schedule or business issues.

In addition to a competitive base salary, this position is also eligible for discretionary bonus and equity awards based on factors such as individual and organizational performance. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance, and location. 

Salary Range
$168,000$210,000 USD
